The Fairfield County Summer String Orchestra is a community orchestra with two locations at opposite ends of the county. One is in Ridgefield, the other in Westport. Our mission is to offer a stimulating and enjoyable program for all levels of players, children and adults, during the summer months.
There are three different ensembles based on the number of years of playing experience.
- Elementary: 1-2 years experience
- Intermediate: 3-5 years experience
- Advanced: 5+ years experience
The orchestra rehearses once a week throughout the summer, culminating in a concert the week before the students return to school.
Our program is open to all musicians and any level of player. The best thing about this: it’s really laid back. Everyone just comes to play and have a good time. Need to miss a few rehearsals for family vacation? No worries. The kids get to keep their skills sharp and learn some new things for the next school year. The adults get to play when they otherwise might not have the chance, and bond with the kids.
